The Federal Privacy Act affords students certain rights with respect to their educational records. FERPA prevents faculty, staff and administration from discussing student academic records and private academic information with parents or others unless students have signed a release giving permission to do so.
A student can, however, waive their right by signing a Permission to Release Education Records form. This form is available from the Registrar Office. A copy of the signed waiver is kept in the student's electronic file in the Student Records and Registration Office.
Questions about FERPA, waivers, accessibility to records, etc, may be directed to the Registrar Office.
