MCCC Retirees Association

Minutes for the November 15, 2006 Meeting.

The meeting was called to order by Jack Kilroy at 9:30AM

The minutes from the May 2, 2006 meeting were reviewed.

Keri Murphy, Coordinator for the MCCC Foundation addressed the group describing the goals of the Foundation and asked the retirees to provide financial support. If you would like to make a donation please contact or forward your contribution to the MCCC Foundation

The Association has had a proposed constitution since the 2001 Spring meeting, but was never approved. The constitution was presented and approved unanimously. Jack Kilroy explained that the next process is either to incorporate as a separate not for profit entity or to request the College Board of Trustees to recognize the Association as an organized activity of the college. The consensus was to request the College Board of Trustees to recognize the Association as an organized activity of the college and the Association be a named insured on the College liability policy, since there are limited funds in the Treasury for insurance premiums.

John Long presented the Treasurer’s Report. A contribution was made to the MCCC Foundation in memory of Stanley Yelito. The Association currently has a balance of $2,730.13 in the treasury. John informed the group that a $10 invoice for the 2007 annual dues will be mailed to all retirees in January.

Roger Willig presented information about the Association’s link on the College web site. This is a new endeavor and the Association is working with College staff to fully implement. Roger recommends that retirees view the web page to keep current on what is occurring at the college and with members of the Association. The Association web site can be accessed as follows:

  • The MC3 web page WWW.Mc3.edu and click on the Alumni page
  • The MC3 web page WWW.Mc3.edu and click on retirees in the a-z directory.

George Phillips reported that at this time there were no events scheduled.

Diane O’Connor introduced Connie McCalla, the new HR Director. Both attended the meeting to answer any questions about retiree’s benefits. Diane made three points:

  • Do not enroll in Medicare part D prescription drug coverage. If you sign up you will be removed from the college prescription drug program. The MCCC Retiree Healthcare Plan is on average, for all participants, better than the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage.
  • There are no changes in medical coverage in 2007.
  • There will be a change in the pharmacy benefits manager to Future Scripts. You should receive a new prescription program card by January listing Future Scripts as the prescription provider.

There was no old or new business to report at the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 AM.
