Becoming a confident parent is a life long process that has many highs and lows along the way. There aren't any perfect parents! But if a parent is flexible and open to new ideas, he or she can develop strategies and learn techniques to get through the difficult times every parent and child must face.
Below are some basic concepts for you to consider as you navigate through the parenting process and work to develop a healthy relationship with your child.
- HELP YOUR CHILD ADAPT TO HIS DISTINCT TEMPERAMENT.
- BECOME A GOOD ROLE MODEL.
- LISTEN TO YOUR CHILDREN WHEN THEY SPEAK TO YOU.
- TRY TO REMAIN CALM DURING POWER STRUGGLES.
- FOSTER THE BELIEF THAT EACH CHILD IS AN IMPORTANT FAMILY MEMBER.
- SPEND TIME ALONE WITH EACH CHILD.
- BE AWARE OF YOUR TONE OF VOICE WHEN TALKING TO YOUR CHILDREN.
- ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO PURSUE HIS TALENTS AND STRENGTHS.
- TEACH CHILDREN TO HAVE GOOD MANNERS AND TO BE HELPFUL TO OTHERS.
