What is an internship?
An internship position is a short-term work experience with specific learning goals that allow you to apply classroom principles to the workplace without making a career commitment. An internship may help you focus on what you truly want to do–or not do–within your career field after graduation.
The learning objectives, internship guidelines, and time commitment are mutually agreed upon in advance. You may have heard of co-ops. The terms internship and co-op are often interchangeable–both offer a true learning experience! Internships may be paid or unpaid.
Call it whatever you'd like, the main premise is to apply your academic learning to a practical setting while gaining valuable personal experiences!
