This Bureau manages 262 million acres of public land (primarily in the West) and 560 million acres of subsurface minerals in the U.S.
The Service is the lead organization in the conservation of the nation's natural and cultural resources including national parks, riverways, trails, historical monuments, seashores and lakeshores.
The Service works to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife and plant habitats for present and future generations of Americans.
