Department of Labor The Department fosters, promotes and develops the welfare of the wage earners of the U.S. to improve their working conditions and to advance their opportunities for profitable employment. The Department administers a variety of federal labor laws, protects workers' pension rights; provides job training programs; works to strengthen free collective bargaining; and keeps track of changes in employment, prices and other national economic measurements. Employment Standards Division This Division enforces laws concerning wages, hours, equal employment opportunity, working conditions and injury compensation for employees. Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA was created to help prevent work-related injuries, illnesses and deaths. Women's Bureau This Bureau serves and protects the interests of working women.
