    Electronic Resources and Services

This semester the Library blog, Blogos, has a new look and so does the Library web site! The IT department installed an upgrade of our blogging software, WordPress, and, with it, came a brand new template. The web site is now more streamlined and compact, to reduce scrolling and for ease of use. Don't forget to keep checking Blogos to read about new and interesting goings on at the Libraries!

In addition, over the summer, we rolled out an online reference program. Currently, we're answering reference questions with AOL's Instant Messenger. The details of this program are available at http://www.mc3.edu/sa/lib/im.htm . Soon, we will be unveiling a new chat reference system that will allow you to go to a web site, log in, and be connected with a librarian. You won't need to download any software, and we will be able to show you how to find the answers to your questions, lead you through the steps, and accompany you as you show us what searches you've already done. Keep an eye out for the announcement on Blogos.

Behind the scenes, we've also been upgrading our technologies to better facilitate your library needs. In October, we went live with the Ariel automated Interlibrary Loan program. Ariel will allow us to send and receive scanned articles rather than waiting for photocopies to come in the mail. This means we'll be able to speed up the response time for some Interlibrary Loan requests.
