provided public service at the West Campus on October 31st!
New Furry Staff Member and a Health Care Display

Michael the Moose joined the West Library staff last January. In his brief time here, this two-foot-high cuddly has learned so much from the staff that he has even acquired a medical degree (of sorts). Wearing a stethoscope, he is now presiding over our display of medical books, videos, and paraphernalia to pay tribute to our West health care suite and all nursing students. Debra Poelhuis, Director of Health Career Programs, and Kathy Schreiner, Director of the Medical Assisting Program, kindly donated the medical instruments that make this display so fascinating to visitors.
Michael is now our official West Library mascot. He also serves, in psychiatric terms, as a transitional object that affords solace to staff members when they just can't get those overdue books back. People like to hug him. Unfortunately, Michael was too shy to pose for photos for this issue of N&Q, but, hopefully, for the Spring issue, he will allow us to take his picture!
