Central Periodicals Department

by Max Shenk, Periodicals Assistant

We have ordered five new print subscriptions this year. Beginning in January, the Central Campus Library will receive…

  • THE WEEK: A digest compiling news and editorial content from "the best of the U.S. and international media" promising "all you need to know about everything that matters." The current week of THE WEEK will be kept in the lounge area next to the periodicals desk.

  • PROFESSIONAL GEOGRAPHER: "A forum for new ideas, alternative viewpoints, and debates with emphasis on questions and problems of broad interest to geographers."

  • CONDE NAST TRAVELER and TRAVEL AND LEISURE: These two travel magazines replace the now-defunct TRAVEL-HOLIDAY, which ceased publication last summer.

  • ISSUES IN COMPREHENSIVE PEDIATRIC NURSING is a peer-reviewed journal covering topics of interest to nurses and other medical professionals who care for children.

The Periodicals Department now has a night clerk! In addition to Darren Clossin and me staffing the desk during the day, Brian Shaeffer now mans the Periodicals Desk at night. Brian also works at the Bucks County Free Library (Doylestown).

SUGGESTIONS?? If there are any titles that you think should be added to the serials collection at MCCC, please let us know before the close of the spring semester, so that we can obtain and review sample copies. The library's renewals are processed during the summer, so the sooner you can get suggestions to us, the better.

We do hear your recommendations: some suggestions from the last three years which have become subscriptions include POETS AND WRITERS, MONTGOMERY COUNTY TOWN AND COUNTRY LIVING, NURSING HISTORY REVIEW, and ADVANCE FOR NURSES.

Hope to see you in the library!
