The Encyclopedia of American Folk Art
REF NK805 .E6 2004This single-volume encyclopedia contains entries on people, institutions, and topics of interest relative to three centuries of American folk art. The encyclopedia contains an index, and each entry has cross references and a bibliography.
The Encyclopedia of Education
REF LB15 .E47 2003This new edition of the classic work, first published in 1971, is comprised of eight volumes. All entries are arranged alphabetically, and the work is fully indexed. The encyclopedia examines the “institutions, processes, roles, and philosophies” of educational practice not only in the United States , but also throughout the world. This revised edition reflects changes in education that have occurred since 1971. Volume 1 provides an alphabetical listing of all articles in the eight-volume work along with a list of contributors to the encyclopedia. Volume 8 includes a comprehensive index; a thematic outline of content; a list of primary source education documents; a list of standardized tests and testing entities; a list of state departments of education; a list of recommended web sites in the field of education; and a bibliography of classic works in the discipline of education.
Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia
QL 7 .G7813 2003The recently acquired second edition of volumes 8 through 11 of this classic work focuses on birds. This entire series (expanding to 17 volumes) is under revision, with revised volumes published as completed. The volumes are organized by taxonomic hierarchy, beginning with the simplest life forms in volume 1 and culminating with mammals in volumes 12 through 16. The encyclopedia is fully indexed, and each entry includes a listing of resources for further study. Additionally, the encyclopedia features approximately 3,500 color photos, 480 of which are included in the four volumes on birds, as well as 5,500 color illustrations, 1,385 of which appear in the bird volumes.
Encyclopedia of Terrorism
REF HV 6431 K883 2003The more than 300 alphabetically-arranged entries in this single-volume encyclopedia provide a comprehensive and global treatment of all aspects of the subject of terrorism. Presenting excellent background information on a wide range of topics, this useful encyclopedia contains an index, and each entry features a bibliography for further reading.
