    Information Literacy

by Mary Beth Parkinson, Information Literacy Librarian

To schedule daytime classes at the Brendlinger Library and discuss instruction, please email Mary Beth Parkinson or call me at 215-619-7480. Please email Robert Erb or call 215-641-6622 to schedule evening instruction at the Brendlinger Library. To schedule daytime instruction at West campus, please email Marie Devine or call 610-718-1867 or email Kevin Strunk or call 610-718-1912. For evening instruction at West Campus, please email Terri Sharif or call 610-718-1820.

Beginning this semester, you also can request instruction by submitting an electronic request form! From the Library web page, select the Faculty Page. Under the Information Literacy heading, click the ‘Schedule Library Instruction’ link for the desired location (Central or West). Direct links are http://www.mc3.edu/sa/lib/asps/instruct.htm for Central and http://www.mc3.edu/sa/lib/asps/winstruct.htm for West. When you fill in the form and click the submit button, the request will be sent. You will receive an email confirmation (within a day or so) of your instruction date and time. Although instruction is normally conducted in the Library, we will also arrange for instruction in your classroom, if appropriate.

Why is information literacy important and what is the status of information literacy at Montgomery County Community College? Please click here for an article that I wrote for the Fall semester issue of this newsletter that answers these questions. We look forward to hearing from and working with our faculty to support and encourage the information literacy and academic success of our students.
