Why read an article from a book when what I need to find is an article?
Unless you are able to speak articulately about your topic for about one minute, you probably do not know enough about it to know how to narrow and focus it.
Reference books provide you with a good overview of your topic in a brief and succinct article.
An article in a subject encyclopedia, such as the Encyclopedia of Psychology, will provide you with:
- An overview of your topic
- Several ideas for focusing or narrowing your topic
- Keywords that will assist you in searching for a peer-reviewd article
- A bibliography that may include scholarly article
