Define a search string (continued)
The way you type your keywords into the search box is called your search string. Try to come up with a search string that will do most of the work of searching for you. By trial and error you will figure out which keywords work best for your topic, and which search string gives you a manageable and precise result list.
What you can do with keywords:
- Use them to search by subject when you don't know the exact term for something
- Combine them with the words "and," "or," or "not" (Boolean operators) to construct more advanced and focused searches
- Truncate (or shorten) them so that you can retrieve singular or plural forms, or even different spellings of a word in a single search.
