Your first task is to select a topic that interests you.
Your professor will give you criteria for appropriate topics for your course section. You may be required to focus on a contemporary, social or public policy issue, and your professor may provide you with ideas.
Speech topics in some classes are based on the work of a charitable or nonprofit organization. Three quick and easy ways to identify such an organization are:
- Visit The Brendlinger Library to use the Foundation Directory. This database is only accessible from the Library, and a librarian must help you log in.
- Watch this video about how to search http://givingworks.ebay.com (NOTE: The purpose of using this eBay site is to get ideas for nonprofits, NOT to purchase items on behalf of the nonprofit.)
