Services for Students with Disabilities

Reasonable Classroom Accommodations

Reasonable accommodations are provided on a case-by-case basis to minimize the impact of disability as much as possible without altering essential academic standards. Documentation may be required depending on the nature of the disability and the accommodation. Accommodations for test-taking may include extended-time, distraction reduced setting, reader, scribe, and/or computer technology. Accommodations for classroom lectures may include tape recording, note-taking, interpreters, or closed captioning.

Arranging Accommodations

New students should meet with the Director (Blue Bell Campus) or Coordinator (Pottstown Campus) prior to the beginning of the semester to arrange for accommodation letters for their professors. Returning students should request their accommodation letters prior to the beginning of the semester.

Students should meet with their professors to present their accommodation letters and discuss their needs as soon as possible. Testing accommodations can be provided in the Disability Services Center (Blue Bell Campus) or Library (Pottstown Campus). Students should make appointments as soon as test dates are available, and they should remind their professors to send the tests to the appropriate office.

Documentation Requirements

Students with learning disabilities, ADH/D, and other hidden disabilities will need to verify their need for accommodations with recent and complete documentation from qualified professionals. Students are encouraged to review the College’s documentation requirements and to contact the Director or Coordinator with questions.
