Education Benefits

Veterans (certain dependents of veterans, Reservists and Guard members) may be entitled to educational benefits from the Veterans Administration.

National Guard and Reserve troops who served under OEF/OIF are eligible for scholarship assistance through the Collegiate Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development. For application information contact Kathy Obey at 215-218-3886.

How to Apply for Education Benefits

  1. Before you register for classes, verify your program status. If you have eligibility questions, call the VA at 1-888-442-4551.
  2. If you are using veterans' benefits for the first time or are transferring to MCCC, you must apply for benefits through the College's Veterans Office. Call the College's Veterans Office to find out which documents to provide for the certification process. A veterans' advisor can help you complete your packet.
  3. Every semester, when you register, notify the Veterans Office at MCCC of the courses you are taking. If you withdraw from one or more courses, you must also notify the Veterans Office at MCCC.
  4. While enrolled, you must verify your enrollment no earlier than the last day of each month and on the last date of the session in which you are enrolled in school. You may do so by calling 1-877-823-2378 or online through the VA WAVE system at www.gibill.va.gov.

What the VA Expects

VA regulations require that you maintain a 2.0 GPA in your declared major to receive educational benefits. Also, the VA will not pay for audits, W or NP grades.

If you are receiving benefits, be sure to meet these conditions to avoid VA overpayment or possible interruption of benefits.

Credit for Military Training/Experience

To find out whether your military training or experience are eligible for academic credit, contact Mary Beth Bryers, Coordinator of Accelerated and Off-Campus Programs, Science Center, Room 238 (215-641-6319) or email mbryers@mc3.edu.

The American Council on Education will provide you with a transcript describing the courses of military training that you completed and, in some cases, a recommendation regarding credit. You can obtain this online from them at www.acenet.edu.

Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities may be eligible for accommodations and/or support services. At the Blue Bell Campus, contact Services for Students with Disabilities, College Hall, Room 131 (215-641-6575) or email disabilities@mc3.edu. At the Pottstown Campus, contact the Student Success Center, Room 151 (610-718-1853) or email westdisab@mc3.edu.
