Baseball Coaching Biography - Lou Lombardo


     Lou Lombardo has coached baseball at the scholastic, American Legion, and collegiate levels.  He coached Queen of Peace School from 1971 through 1977; at Upper Dublin HS from 1978 through 1985; summers -- Fort Washington American Legion from 1976 through 1999.  He came to MCCC in the fall of 1985 as an assistant to Coach Jim Randolph (team founder in 1971).  Lou Lombardo became the head baseball coach at Montgomery CCC in September 1990.  During Lombardo’s reign the Mustangs victory log is 685% (Won 411, Lost 189, Ties 8).  From 1991 through 1993 the Mustangs played in the EPCC.  The Mustangs competed as an Independent from 1994 through 2005.  The Mustangs joined MABA (Mid Atlantic Baseball Alliance) and won championships in 2006 and 2007.


     Overall, Lombardo’s teams have earned 23 titles and 1118 victories.  Besides his role as Montgomery Head Coach he is the General Manager of the Fort Washington American Legion team and he directs numerous summer baseball camps. 


     In June 2007 Lou retired from Upper Dublin HS where he taught History and coached for 33 years.  Lou and his wife Sandy have two adult children and one grandchild. 

BASEBALL COACHING MILESTONES

  • 4/11/07: Montgomery-16, Princeton B-4; Lombardo's 1100th career victory.
  • 4/22/07: Montgomery-7, Chesapeake-4; Lombardo's 400th career Mustangs victory.
  • 1991 -2007, Eighty Two Mustangs players have been transferred to 4 year colleges.
  • Baseball Accomplishments of Former Players (all teams): Twelve former players have played Professional Baseball of which three players reached the Major Leagues.
  • Over 70 former players have become baseball coaches at various levels.
