Music Technology and Music Business Instructor Michael Kelly holds a B.Mus. and M.Mus. in Music Theory and Composition from SUNY at Fredonia School of Music where he was the recipient of the Victoria Bohlen Memorial Award for excellence in composition. Michael has been writing, recording, teaching, and performing in New York City since 1984; writing and recording professionally with the Ronnie Gent Band, the Grip Weeks and Wide Right.
Currently the bassist, vocalist and contributing writer for The Grip Weeds, the band enjoys worldwide distribution and radio play including the continental U.S., Canada and Europe.
In 2008 the band released: INFINITE SOUL, a greatest hits compilation with all songs handpicked by label owner Little Steven Van Zandt. The album is available at Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, and F.Y.E. outlets nationwide.
Michael is also a member of the critically acclaimed indie band; Wide Right, listed in ROLLING STONES TOP 50 Albums, for the album "Sleeping On The Couch". He is also a member of Broadcast Music Incorporated (B.M.I.) and a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS).
