Denise recently received national certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). This prestigious certification, awarded by the National League for Nursing, is a mark of the highest standard which attests to Denise’s excellence, professionalism, and expertise in the nurse educator role. CNE certification recognizes her specialized nursing and teaching knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as excellence in practice. She states that, “this certification was aligned with my educational philosophy, which includes collaborative learning as well as lifelong learning concepts”.

Denise brings to her nurse educator role a vast background that includes nursing clinical practice, administrative management and teaching experience. This varied background has contributed to her service in a number of nursing roles including certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse, an ACLS and BCLS instructor, a nurse manager, and assistant director of nursing, all of which have supported her use of nursing research to inform practice and develop protocols and critical pathways for the hospitalized patient.

Additionally, Denise has worked in the nursing profession all over the United States, including Hawaii, caring for culturally diverse populations. She believes that “regardless of where one practices, it is important to grow where you are planted and to always strive for excellence.”
