Home Care Aide

Purpose

The Home Care Aide program offers students the knowledge required to provide basic care for patients in the comfort of their homes or in an assisted living facility.

Program Description

This comprehensive 80-hour program provides content on the role of the Home Health Aide including the role of the Caregiver in maintaining a clean, safe and healthy environment, food and nutritional practices, basic physiology systems, disorders and diseases, health and emergency procedures and rehabilitation. This program is approximately 11 weeks.

Primary Goals

Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge required to provide basic care for patients in the home and in an assisted living facility.

Consideration for Industry Certification

Graduates are eligible to take the National Certification Examination for Home Care Aide.

Curriculum

Home Care Aide Course Code # HCHC 1001

PREREQUISITE: High school diploma or GED. Must be 18 years or older. Criminal background check and comprehensive physical examination required.

Recognition of Completion: A certificate of program completion will be awarded by the College.
