Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist

Purpose

The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist program is suited for those new to technology, changing jobs, or a seasoned IT professional. This certification demonstrates to customers, peers, and employers a commitment to advance skills and take on greater challenges in addition to providing access to exclusive Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) resources and benefits.

Program Description

The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) on Windows Server 2008 credential is intended for IT professionals who will work in the complex computing environment of medium-sized to large companies. The MCTS candidate should have at least one year of computer related experience or training. This 60-hour program is a 20-week program that meets one evening per week for 3 hours each evening.

Primary Goals

The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist training covers topics for IT professionals who will work in complex computing environments of medium-sized to large companies. The MCTS candidates are taught skills in implementing, building, troubleshooting, and debugging a particular Microsoft technology. This program also provides students the relevant hands-on training needed for exam preparation and certification.

Consideration for Industry Certification

Upon passing the certification exam, students receive the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) credential in the relevant technology. Upon completion of Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist programs, the student can sit for the MCTIP Server Administrator exam 70-646.

PREREQUISITE: One to twelve months of experience in working with a desktop operating system, a network operating system, and an existing network infrastructure.

Recognition of Completion: The student must get a minimum of 70% adjusted score to graduate. A certificate of completion is awarded by the College.
