Vice President of Workforce Development and West Campus

David J. DiMattio grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. He attended St. Bonaventure University for a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Masters in Astrophysics. David attended the University of Missouri where he earned a doctorate degree in Physics, specializing in Atmospheric Physics and computational modeling.

Dr. DiMattio worked for St. Bonaventure University as an Associate Professor of Physics for 15 years. In this timeline, he was named Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences, and Dean to Clare College, the University’s core curriculum.

Since 2014, David has worked for Montgomery County Community College in the greater Philadelphia region. He served as division dean to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics as well as the Health Sciences division. He was named the Vice President to West Campus of Montgomery County Community College in June 2016. Because of a realignment, DiMattio additionally serves as Vice President for Workforce Development & Continuing Education countywide with a headquarters in Pottstown, PA. He oversees the College’s Career Services and Prior Learning Assessment in this new division.

DiMattio serves on several regional board in southeastern Pennsylvania. He is the president to the national organization, Association for General Liberal Studies (AGLS) and he is a board member to The Liberal Arts Institute for Core Texts and Courses (ACTC).

In his years as faculty and administrator, DiMattio has developed various academic and workforce programs, worked with industrial partners to create internship and research experiences for students, and facilitated community engagement opportunities. He has a national reputation for academic assessment practices and he is well published in those areas as well as in his discipline.
