Over the past number of years, the higher education fundraising landscape has shifted dramatically, and financial volatility has continued to persist. The Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) Board of Trustees, along with College leadership, recognized this and saw a need to evolve its fundraising capabilities with a new philanthropic arm that fully aligned with the mission and strategic priorities of Montgomery County Community College. Especially in this time of heightened financial volatility, the Board determined that a new philanthropic arm was needed to more effectively:
- Support students financially.
- Support academic programs, faculty development and campus initiatives that enhance the quality and accessibility of a MCCC education.
- Promote community awareness, engagement and partnerships that further the mission and values of the College.
- Facilitate capital projects and improvements that benefit the College and its students.
- Encourage philanthropic giving and long-term financial sustainability through endowments and planned-giving programs.
In authorizing the establishment of the Montgomery County Community College (PA) Legacy
Fund, the College’s Board of Trustees is ensuring the continued success of the College,
its employees, and, most importantly, its students.
The Legacy Fund is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation that has applied to the IRS
to be recognized as a Code Section 501(c)(3) public charity. While the Legacy Fund’s
Code Section 501(c)(3) request is currently pending with the IRS, donations to support
the Legacy Fund can be made to TriCounty Community Network (TCN), as the Legacy Fund’s
fiscal sponsor. TCN is a Pennsylvania based nonprofit corporation recognized as tax-exempt
under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN: 23-2684794). Contributions to TCN, as the Legacy Fund’s fiscal sponsor, are tax-deductible to
the fullest extent of the law.
