Students from Montgomery County Community College’s chapter of Phi Beta Lambda competed at the Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda Pennsylvania State Leadership Conference in Harrisburg from March 22-24.

Seven members - Co-presidents Barry Hunsberger, Trooper, and Nicoletta Pelchat, Lafayette Hill; Vice President Mike Antoine, Philadelphia; Treasurer Justin Ziegler, Harleysville; Secretary James Sovocool, Hatfield; Loymi Peralta Cruz, Cheltenham; and Luka Vukoslavovic,  Blue Bell - received awards in competitive events that reward excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas.

In addition to individual awards, MCCC’s PBL chapter won awards for Local Annual Chapter Business Plan, Chapter Community Service Report and second place of Gold Seal (Outstanding Chapter).

MCCC faculty also received recognition at the conference. The club’s advisor, Faculty Diversity Fellow in Finance Damon T. Gray, was nominated by students and won Advisor of the Year.

Ziegler was elected Pennsylvania Phi Beta Lambda State Treasurer. Officers work with state advisors to develop goals and state events for the upcoming year.

Pelchat is proud of what the club has achieved.

“It feels incredible to have accomplished so much this year,” Pelchat said. “We are so proud of both our chapter and our members individually and so appreciative of our advisor Damon Gray. We are incredibly excited to represent Montgomery County Community College at the national conference in June.”

Ziegler, Antoine, Pelchat, Peralta Cruz, Hunsberger and Sovocool will be attending the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas from June 24-27. State Leadership Conferences feature competitive events and elections. Competitive event winners earn the opportunity to compete at the National Leadership Conference in the summer.

Second place awards went to Peralta Cruz for Emerging Business Issues, Vukoslavovic for Business Decision Making and the team of Sovocool and Hunsberger for Small Business Management Plan.
