The 3rd Annual Montgomery County Sheriff’s Scholarship Fund Golf Outing was held Monday, Aug. 12, at Blue Bell Country Club in Whitpain, Pa.

The Sheriff’s Office Endowed Scholarship Fund was established with the Montgomery County Community College Foundation to assist employees of the MCSO and their families in reaching their educational goals through degree programs at Montgomery County Community College.

This year’s outing grossed nearly $45,000 in charitable donations that will provide scholarships to further the MCSO’s goal of being the best sheriff’s office in the commonwealth through helping our law enforcement and administrative staff achieve the highest levels of professional development while providing the highest level of service.

The Fund also awarded its first scholarship to Deputy Joseph Holman, who made the Dean’s List at MCCC in pursuit of his degree in secondary education.

Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny joined Deputy Holman, MCCC Interim President and Provost Dr. Victoria Bastecki-Perez and keynote speaker, Pa. Rep. Matt Bradford, in stressing the importance of continuing education in the law enforcement and civil service communities during remarks at the dinner following the outing.

More than 100 golfers enjoyed a picture-perfect day on the links, lunch, dinner, and great prizes and raffles.

“I am so grateful to the Montgomery County Community College Foundation and our generous sponsors, donors, and volunteers who helped us organize this event that provides such a great benefit to our staff,” said Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny.

“As a trustee at MCCC, I appreciate the value of quality education and its vital role in professional development. It’s truly gratifying to see our collaborative work come to fruition with the awarding of our inaugural scholarship.”

“Luckily we had a beautiful day, and the Blue Bell Country Club did an outstanding job in making it a great experience for our golfers and guests. We look forward to doing it all again next year in conjunction with the Pa. Sheriff’s Conference.”
