For the holiday season, consider giving the gift of life-saving blood. Montgomery County Community College will be hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 1-6 p.m. in the College’s North Hall Gallery, 16 East High Street, Pottstown. Free parking is available at South Hall, 101 College Drive.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. To register, visit the American Red Cross’s website. Anyone who donates blood between Nov. 28 and Dec. 15 will receive a $10 Amazon.com gift card by email, thanks to the American Red Cross’s partners at Amazon.
Every donation helps to ease the strain on the nation’s blood supply and saves lives. Donating blood is quick, safe and easy. Blood donors of all types are needed to ensure the supply is available when people need it.
The blood drive at MCCC includes blood donations and the collection of Power Reds. Power Red donors give a concentrated dose of red blood cells during a single donation, allowing them to maximize their impact. During this type of donation, red blood cells are separated from other blood components, and the plasma and platelets are safely and comfortably returned to the donor. Eligible donors with types O, B negative or A negative blood are encouraged to make a Power Red donation.
