Fred Goldstein, Communications Studies Senior Lecturer, has been teaching at Montgomery County Community College for more than 19 years, and his dedication and service goes beyond the classroom into the community. Fred and his wife, Julie, recently helped to start a program, “Lock it for Love,” and have been giving away free gunlocks in Montgomery, Bucks and Philadelphia counties. The nonprofit initiative distributes free gunlocks to promote child safety and suicide prevention.

With support from Montco’s Senior Director of Campus Safety, Lee Allan, who is also a state-certified firearms instructor, the program made its way to the Blue Bell Campus, offering free locks and education to students and employees. Fred and Lee had a table in the Parkhouse Hall Atrium on April 17 and gave away 30 gunlocks to 20 people, saving lives and raising awareness about gun safety.
