Awarding of the Honorary Associate Degree
Recognizing outstanding individuals who have demonstrated meritorious service to Montgomery County Community College, to the community, to their profession and/or displayed leadership in civic and cultural affairs.
Board Duties and Responsibilities
The Board of Trustees establishes the necessary policies for operating Montgomery County Community College and has all the powers, duties, and obligations as specifically set forth in the Community College Act of 19631, its amendments and supplements. The Board of Trustee's aim is to serve the educational, workforce, and cultural needs of our students and Montgomery County communities.
Board of Trustees By-Laws
The Board of Trustees of Montgomery County Community College is the institution's legal governing body. The Board of Trustees establishes the necessary policies for operating Montgomery County Community College and has all of the powers, duties, and obligations as specifically set forth in the Community College Act of 1963, its amendments and supplements.
Board of Trustees Conflict of Interest
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to members of this Board with respect to any conflict of interest experienced by the totality of any outside interests, concerns and relationships held by any individual member, as required through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Standard 2.
Board of Trustees Emeritus
Montgomery County Community College recognizes extraordinary and significant contributions by bestowing Emeritus status to former Board of Trustee members who have advanced the College’s mission and strategic agenda.
Board of Trustees Public Meeting Policy
The Board adopts this policy to govern public participation in Board meetings necessary to conduct its meeting and to maintain order.
Board of Trustees Self-Assessment
Effective Boards of Trustees engage in a regular process of self-assessment of their performance. This willingness to engage in this type of self-assessment serves as a model for all units of the College. Engagement in the process of self-assessment demonstrates that Trustees are strongly committed to fulfilling their governance responsibilities as defined by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Standards of Excellence, Standard VII, Governance, Leadership and Administration, and by the superseding Community College Act of 1963, Section 35.11.
Guide to Ethical Governance
Montgomery County Community College’s Board of Trustees is committed to setting an example for the entire College community by adopting and adhering to a set of standards for good practice to guide ethical governance of the College.
Investment of Funds
The purpose of this Investment Policy Statement (IPS) is to establish a clear understanding of the investment goals and objectives, and the management guidelines applicable the College’s cash balances.
Naming of College Facilities
Montgomery County Community College may honor or memorialize individuals and/or companies for extraordinary contributions to the College. Those contributions may be in the form of major financial gifts, significant time and talent devoted to the College by dedicated members of the College community, and/or distinguished service on the part of faculty, administrators, and/or staff members.
Policy Development
Provides clear and standardized guidelines for the development of new policies and articulates the review process for current policies at Montgomery County Community College. All policies are reviewed and approved by the Board of Trustees.
Presidential Evaluation
Recognizing the importance of ongoing evaluation for the development and retention of exceptional leaders throughout the College and that all employees benefit professionally and personally from constructive reviews of how they exercise their responsibilities and accomplish the strategic goals of the College, the Board of Trustees establishes processes for presidential evaluation
Red Flag
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance in the proper identification, detection, and response to warning signs of identity theft as required by these regulations. This policy applies to all Montgomery County Community College covered accounts, both old and new, that offer credit, or other forms of deferred payment (e.g., deferred payment accounts, refund of credit balances, emergency loans). Additionally, the policy applies to all administrators and staff who work with the authentication of persons in the enrollment and management of covered accounts.
Service Animals
The purpose of this policy is to provide clear guidelines for students, employees, and members of the community for managing service animals at Montgomery County Community College (the College) in accordance with federal and state law including the Americans with Disabilities Act. The College generally allows for service animals assisting individuals with disabilities and service animals in training accompanied by their trainers to be permitted in all facilities, programs, and activities. Any exceptions to these allowances are set forthin section E, Exclusions of a Service Animal.
State of Relationship with Foundation
The purpose of this policy is to define the role of the Foundation in the achievement of the College’s mission which now is limited to the prudent management of gifts, funds and property within the Foundation's control and consistent with its fiduciary duties.
