Weekly planning time with your student teacher
This is a MUST and should be at least once a week.
This is the time when you let student teachers know what you want to do for the following week AND when student teachers show you their plans for the following day/week.
What you should expect from your student teacher when it somes to lesson planning and activity preparation
- Our students have been taught to follow the Montgomery County Community College lesson plan format, which is found in the handbook.
- They have had classes in which they had to create such lessons. However, now is the time for them to put it into practice and they may need fine tuning.
- After student teachers have written many lesson plans and mastered the process, the supervisor may allow the student teacher to adopt the block plan process that most centers are using. This only happens towards the end of the semester.
- Please remember that they are just beginning teachers and need to have much more detail in their lesson plans than a seasoned teacher will.
