Alvernia now offers MBA, MED programs at Pottstown Campus
Montgomery County Community College’s University Center welcomes Alvernia University to its partnership of higher education institutions to expand its advanced-degree opportunities for students and the community, as part of its ongoing commitment to the Pottstown area.
As a new partner of MCCC’s University Center, Alvernia University will offer Master of Business Administration and Master of Education degrees at MCCC’s West Campus in Pottstown.
"Expanding Alvernia graduate programs in Business and Education into the Pottstown area provides tremendous opportunities to advance careers in these areas," said Jerry Greiner, provost at Alvernia. "We understand the importance of offering quality programs with flexible formats that allow people to balance work, family and their professional lives."
Alvernia’s ethics-driven Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and can be completed in Reading, Pottsville and now in Pottstown.
Students can also pursue Alvernia Master in Education (MED) degrees with certification in either English as a Second Language (ESL) or Special Education (PK-8 or 7-12) in Pottstown. Alvernia’s ESL program prepares teachers to instruct and support both culturally and linguistically diverse populations. In addition to coursework that focuses on young students with special needs such as learning disabilities, social/emotional disorders, and autism, the special education certification program also includes coursework in technology, literacy and teaching strategies, and methods for the instruction of students
"This is another fine example of us continuing to grow our West Campus by providing more educational opportunities for the community and strengthening our long-term commitment to Pottstown and the surrounding area," said MCCC President Dr. Kevin Pollock. "Since we opened our West Campus 1996, we have served as an educational resource for the area, expanding our programs by adding the University Center, Workforce Development division and our Sustainability and Innovation Hub, and we will continue to expand our offerings as an anchor of the Pottstown community."
MCCC’s University Center offers advanced degrees – bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral - on its campuses through its partnerships with Albright College, Alvernia University, Cabrini University, Chestnut Hill College, Immaculata University and Penn State (Abington) University.
