Montgomery County Community College and Neumann University are hosting a Public Safety Community Day for anyone who is interested in learning more about public safety administration education and careers, including professionals in public safety fields.

The informational event will be held on Thursday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in MCCC’s Health Sciences Center Atrium on its Blue Bell Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike. The event is free, but online registration is requested at mc3.edu/safetyday.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about careers in public safety administration and the programs and pathway available through the collaboration between MCCC and Neumann University, one of MCCC’s University Center partners. A panel discussion with students and faculty from each institution will provide details about program options and answer questions.

In addition, representatives from local, federal and state organizations, including Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, Montgomery County Health Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Montgomery County Correctional Facility, Homeland Security, Whitpain Township Police and the Upper Merion Township Police, will be on hand for networking, sharing information and answering questions.

MCCC offers a Public Safety Administration Associate of Science degree, which prepares graduates for entry-level employment or to continue their education. MCCC provides flexible programs for both full- and part-time students.

Neumann University offers an online degree completion program for a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration. The program is designed to prepare people who are working the fields of firefighting, police or emergency medical services for administrative and leadership positions.

Through its University Center partnership agreement, Neumann will accept 90 transfer credits from MCCC, creating an affordable way for students to earn their bachelor’s degree by taking additional courses at MCCC. The online format provides a flexible schedule, particularly for students who are balancing work, family and school responsibilities. The online program may be completed in as little as 20 months.

Public safety administration is the study of disaster relief, response, preparedness and recovery. Potential careers in public safety administration include chief security officer, emergency management director, occupational health and safety specialist and social and community service manager, to name a few.

MCCC’s University Center offers select bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at MCCC’s Blue Bell and Pottstown Campuses and online through its partnerships with Albright College, Chestnut Hill College and Neumann University.
