Join Montgomery County Community College students and employees in the Fine Arts, Culinary, and Bakery & Pastry Arts programs, as they serve bowls of hot, delicious soup, all in an effort to combat food insecurity on campus.

The three programs are collaborating to host an Empty Bowls fundraiser to raise awareness about hunger and food insecurity, Thursday, Dec. 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hospitality Institute, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. The event is open to all, but registration is required. Registration is $25.

Each event attendee will receive a beautifully handcrafted ceramic bowl, freshly made soup, bread, and a beverage. Soups and breads are made by students and faculty in the Culinary and Baking & Pastry Arts production classes. The ceramic bowls are made by students and faculty in Ceramics classes and D2 Pottery is also donating bowls.

Proceeds from the event will benefit MCCC’s Stock Up for Success Food Pantry and student programming opportunities in Ceramics, Culinary, and Baking & Pastry Arts. Bowls and takeout soup will be available on the day of the event while supplies last.

Empty Bowls is an international, grassroots effort by artists, artisans, and makers to share their gifts and raise awareness about hunger and food insecurity. Events around the world have raised millions of dollars to help end hunger.
