The Hospitality Institute at Montgomery County Community College is excited to welcome youth ages 11-18 to our culinary and baking camps at the Blue Bell campus this summer. Campers will work with professional Chefs in our state-of-the-art facility, learning basic cooking or baking skills and applying new and more challenging techniques to create an array of cuisines and baked goods from Contemporary to Global. Campers will leave each camp with confidence, new skills, and a plan for keeping their kitchens clean!

Edible Masterpieces
Imagination, art appreciation and eating – what more could you ask for! In this session, campers will explore how art and food intersect. By drawing inspiration from famous paintings, sculptures and cultural art forms, participants will learn to transform everyday ingredients into edible masterpieces. Hospitality Horizons: Teen Culinary Adventure
Get ready to stir up creativity and adventure at the Hospitality Institute at Montco’s 4-day Culinary and Hospitality Career Camp! Designed for young teens, this hands-on experience dives into the exciting world of food science, research and development, baking and pastry arts, culinary skills and even banquet and event planning. Campers will experiment with flavors, craft their own recipes, temper chocolate and sharpen their knife skills— all while preparing their own lunches each day. Along the way, they’ll discover how science meets art in the kitchen, explore the teamwork behind hospitality, and may even head out on a field trip to see where fresh ingredients begin their journey. With no Big 9 allergens used, every student can safely join the fun. From pickling produce to serving up a restaurant-style family meal, this camp is the perfect recipe for adventure, discovery and delicious memories! Space is limited!

Knead to Know: The Art and Science of Flour, Water, Yeast, and Salt
This hands-on session introduces campers to everything you knead to know about bread, rolls, dough, and other tasty foods using simple ingredients. Campers will learn how flour, water, yeast, and salt transform into delicious staple foods in homes all over the world. Participants will explore different types of grains and flours, test a variety of recipes, and learn about various kitchen equipment used in the bread-making process. What will my child learn from this experience?
Will my child be outside during the day?
All activities will occur inside the facility. Lunches may be held on the patio.
Will you take any field trips?
Field trips are determined according to camp topics. For more information, please refer to camp registration confirmation documents or contact [email protected].
What should my child bring each day?
Eagerness to learn, a love of trying new things, and maybe a change of clothes because the kitchen can get messy!
In all seriousness though, no items are required, however all campers should wear closed-toe shoes, long hair should be tied back, and no tank tops should be worn. Aprons, supplies, and tools will be provided. Campers will also receive lunch, snacks, and water each day.
What is the camper-to-teacher ratio?
One teacher will be with a group of up to 15 campers. In addition to the instructors there are camp counselors to provide support.
