Social media brings together people from all over the world to share their thoughts and ideas. Unfortunately, scammers and cyber criminals are lurking on the internet looking to steal information and exploit users. Megan Frank, host of PBS39’s Tech Takeover series, recently invited Bill Rosenbaum, Montgomery County Community College’s Director of Information Technology Security, to be a guest on the show to talk about social media, warn viewers about fake Facebook Profiles, or Facebook clones, and give advice on how to spot and avoid these scams.
Rosenbaum has been working in the Information Technology Department at MCCC since 2000. He is the principal information security expert with the College, leading the planning and implementation of systems and business processes that secure our technology and information. In addition to his responsibilities, Bill also participates on the Information Technology All College Committee, various information security groups including EDUCAUSE and InfraGard and speaks on security topics through presentations at the College’s annual Technology Conference and visits to local high schools.
PBS39’s Tech Takeover focuses on educating viewers about the Digital World and increasing digital literacy. The series educates and empowers viewers about how to better use and understand current and emerging digital platforms.
