Montgomery County Community College's Workforce Development Division is hosting a free online Workforce Development Business Roundtable for businesses on June 10 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Montgomery County Community College’s Workforce Development Division is committed to helping businesses strengthen their workforce and enhance their competitive advantage by connecting them with valuable resources and timely topics.
To share this information, MCCC is inviting businesses to attend its annual Workforce Development Business Roundtable on Wednesday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will be held via Zoom. It is free but registration is required at mc3.edu/calendar.
The keynote speaker this year is Stephen Boyle, founder and principal of Merion Energy
Solutions. Steve had previously served for a decade as Director of State Government
Affairs at PJM, leading PJM’s engagements with Pennsylvania and New Jersey state governments,
including governors’ offices, legislatures, and utility commissions, on complex policy
issues regarding electric system planning, wholesale markets, and grid operations.
Boyle will discuss key forces shaping energy costs over the next several years within
the PJM grid.
Following the keynote presentation, MCCC’s Director of Workforce Development Bernadette DeBias and Administrative Director for Academic Initiatives Katina Faulk will discuss the advantages of the Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA). Created by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, WEDnetPA is an alliance of higher educational providers across Pennsylvania, with MCCC serving as the Montgomery County partner. Through WEDnetPA, companies can receive state grants for training employees. DeBias and Faulk will cover how to prepare a competitive application for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on July 1.
After the WEDnetPA information session, Vincent Shelton, Founder of Upwize AI, will speak on the various artificial intelligence (AI) tools and how to effectively leverage them for business decisions. MCCC’s Tom Ross, Director of Workforce Development for Industry and Information Technology, will demonstrate a use case of AI for manufacturers and talk about MCCC’s new CompTIA courses in AI Essentials, AI Prompting, AI for Marketing, and AI for Sales.
MCCC’s Workforce Development Division applies a demand-driven approach to customized training and credentialing for companies and delivers the training onsite or virtually. For more information, contact Bernadette DeBias at [email protected].
MCCC assists companies in developing their training plans and submitting them to WEDnetPA. To learn more about workforce programs and services, visit MCCC’s Workforce Development webpage at mc3.edu/workforce.
