Ceremony Protocol

The 2022 Commencement will be conducted as a drive-in. This is a rain or shine event. Only the stage will be partially covered. Every effort will be made to ensure graduates walk across the stage. Should CDC or state guidelines change due to COVID-19, the College will communicate these updates as soon as possible to your Montco student email address and on the Commencement section of the website, and within the Commencement 2022 group on Montco Connect.

All guests must remain in their car for the duration of the ceremony. No folding chairs and/or sitting on top of vehicles will be permitted for the event. To ensure all guests can view their graduate crossing the stage, large screens will be set up in the parking lot. Additionally, a professional photographer will take a photo of the graduate as they cross the stage.

Parking & Parking Passes

Each graduate will receive two (2) parking passes for the ceremony:

  • One pass for the Graduate parking section, for the graduate (and some guests)
  • One pass for the Guest parking section, for additional guests

Only vehicles with the designated "Graduate" pass, which have the graduate in them, will be permitted in this section of the event. Guest passes will be directed to the general guest section.

Graduates will only receive two parking passes, which will be distributed at the Grad Fairs in May. Check the schedule of events  for more information. If you are unable to attend, contact commencement@mc3.edu for support.

Graduates who misplace their vehicle passes should contact commencement@mc3.edu.

Additional guests who want to drive separately can park in the Health Sciences Center parking lot and walk to join their vehicle inside designated Graduate or Guest sections. Anyone exiting their vehicle must follow CDC and state guidelines for COVID-19.

If graduates are taking public transportation to the ceremony, please email commencement@mc3.edu for instructions on where to go when you arrive.

Arrival to Ceremony

10 a.m. ceremony*

  • All graduates should be parked in the Graduate parking section by 9:40 a.m.
  • The Guest parking section will open at 9 a.m., and all vehicles should be in place by 9:50 a.m.

2 p.m. ceremony*

  • All graduates should be parked in the Graduate parking section by 1:40 p.m.
  • The Guest parking section will open at 1 p.m., and all vehicles should be in place by 1:50 p.m.

6 p.m. ceremony*

  • All graduates should be parked in the Graduate parking section by 5:40 p.m.
  • The Guest parking section will open at 5 p.m., and all vehicles should be in place by 5:50 p.m.

College personnel will be on hand to assist with parking arrangements. All College staff supporting the event will be wearing identifiable t-shirts.

Large screens will be located in the parking lot with sound projected for those guests who want to roll windows down.

Graduates who do not feel comfortable sitting in the designated chair next to their car may remain in their vehicle until procession to the stage for diplomas.

While every effort is made to ensure accuracy in the commencement program, printing deadlines sometimes prevent inclusion of the candidates' names or may result in the use of names of persons not completing graduation requirements. All honors indicated in the program are tentative. Official degree honors for diplomas and transcripts will be determined after final grades are reported. The printed program, therefore, should not be used to determine a student's academic degree status. A student's official transcript serves as the only definitive documentation of a student's academic degree status.


Guests are encouraged to take pictures, however, they will not be permitted in the graduate section or near the stage for photographs. A professional photographer will take a photo of your graduate on stage and will contact the graduate after the ceremony to purchase the photos.

Photo Release for Commencement Ceremony

By attending an event at Montgomery County Community College, you consent to having your image and voice recorded by photographers and videographers hired by the College. The resulting materials, which may include still photographs, video and audio recordings, may be used by Montgomery County Community College, without restriction, in promotional and news materials, on the College website and social media accounts, and on materials and properties as needed.
