Montgomery County PA has a higher concentration of manufacturing companies than any other place in the state of PA. Manufacturing careers provide family-sustaining wages, involve sophisticated technology like robotics, and provide career pathways for Montgomery County’s technically skilled populations. Based on recent data, manufacturing companies in Montgomery County PA created a gross regional product (GRP) of $6.4 billion, and over 40,000 manufacturing jobs. 32% of the workforce is approaching retirement, and the majority of the positions are in production operations.
Due to the greying of the workforce, many of the manufacturing positions will need to be filled with skilled employees. Montco is poised to help our area manufacturers continue to grow through our training.
CNC Program
This CNC program offers a certificate of completion for aspiring Machinist CNC Operators, teaching essential skills like basic blueprint reading, tool identification, and CNC mill and lathe operations. The program is divided into two parts: CNC 1 and CNC 2. CNC 1 graduates will have the foundational skills for entry level CNC operator positions. CNC 2 graduates will have the advanced skills needed for entry level CNC machinist positions.
Introduction to Mechanical Blueprint Reading
Modern manufacturing begins with a print. This Introduction to Blueprint Reading course is designed for machine trades students and apprentices who want to master the basics of print interpretation. Using industry-standard textbooks and hands-on sketching exercises, students will learn to translate 2D engineering drawings into 3D mental models, ensuring accuracy and precision in the shop environment.
Continuous Improvement
Learn how to improve processes and deliver products and/or services in the most efficient manner possible. Montco currently offers Lean Six Sigma and Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
