Like many students, Josh Shernoff was not sure what he wanted to do after he left high school. He first visited Montgomery County Community College's Central Campus in Blue Bell to help a friend perform in a talent show, and he realized that there was a convenient, affordable option right in his backyard.

Shernoff was open to many possibilities, but he had a true passion for something not taught in school.

“Basically, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life other than be a professional wrestler,” he said.

Beginning in the fall of 2001, Shernoff's time at Montco was populated by many different interests and paths. While taking classes as a Liberal Arts Major, he also obtained his real estate license and considered a career in education. With so many pursuits off campus, Shernoff did not get an opportunity to participate in activities during his time at Montco.

Shernoff's path took him in many directions. After graduating, he joined the former World Wrestling Entertainment developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling in Kentucky, moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting, and eventually came back to Pennsylvania and is co-owner of a commercial real estate investment company.

In 2018, he connected with longtime friend Bill Apter and created The Apter Chat, a professional wrestling podcast and YouTube channel. After a few episodes, Shernoff wanted to offer his own take on the world and psychology of professional wrestling. That November, he covered the World Wrestling Entertainment Survivor Series as the “So Says Shernoff Survivor Series Special.” Shernoff's coverage was picked up by Wrestlezone and he came back to Montco to promote his work on Montco Radio.

While visiting, Shernoff connected with Matt Porter, Senior Producer and Technical Services Manager, who showed him the College’s television studio. Upon learning that he was an alumnus, Porter and Shernoff organized a taping of the show “So Says Shernoff” in the studio that was posted to Shernoff's YouTube Channel.

It was at this time that Shernoff also connected with Mike Webber, COO of FITE TV, a streaming network that features professional wrestling and fighting content. He was offered a contract to continue making the show on a monthly basis.

Now, he records “So Says Shernoff” every month in the television studio in the Advanced Technology Center on Central Campus in Blue Bell with a crew of current Montco students in the Mass Media Production major.

While Shernoff writes the show’s script and stars in it, the students work behind the scenes in the production of the show.

“As far as operating the camera, teleprompter and other equipment, all of that is the students,” he said. “I show up with a script and graphics, and then the students bring it all together.”

Owen Jeffers leads the students as director of “So Says Shernoff.” The rest of the crew rotates between episodes. Students who have worked on episodes include Hollis Kagan and Veronica Farrell on graphics, Rachel Goodman on camera, and Erin Phelan and Rachel Oscapinski on teleprompter.

Shernoff is happy for the chance to pursue his passion and help current students in the process.

“If I can do something that’s allowing me to provide an education for the students here, that’s exciting,” he said.
