Montgomery County Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Moon, of Wayne, as the new Executive Director of the Baker Center of Excellence for Employee Ownership and Business Transformation.
In this position, he is responsible for leading the Baker Center of Excellence and its endeavors to increase awareness and adoption of the employee-ownership model for privately held companies in Montgomery County and across the Delaware Valley.
“We’re pleased to have Scott join our Montco family. With his business acumen and experience, he will be a dynamic leader in the development of the Baker Center and its resources to assist companies in the region,” said Kyle Longacre, MCCC Dean of Workforce and Economic Development.

“I look forward to collaborating with area business leaders in the formation of the plans and resources for the Baker Center of Excellence,” Moon said. “The Baker Center will help to transform companies, increasing their competitive advantage through the employee-ownership model, as well as other business models.”
Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions across many organizations, including Citibank, Dell, and Ernst & Young. Most recently, Moon served as a vice president for Goldman Sachs. Prior to Goldman, Scott launched the sales and business development function for Chatham Financial Corporation, a Pennsylvania-based, 100% employee-owned company.

About the Baker Center of Excellence
The Baker Center of Excellence will be a catalyst for economic growth and serve as a mechanism of upward social mobility, equity and inclusion. It will focus on three priorities to support employee-owned companies:
- Offering educational activities on the benefits and considerations of employee ownership
- Supporting an online library of resources on the issues of employee ownership, including white papers, videos and case studies
- Raising awareness of the benefits of employee ownership to company founders, employees and the community at large through events and programs
In the academic year 2020-21, MCCC received its largest gift in its 56-year history of $3 million from Kenneth D. Baker for the creation of the Baker Center of Excellence. Baker, the CEO of NewAge Industries in Southampton, Pa., is a proponent of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) after converting NewAge in 2006 and seeing the positive benefits for both employees and the company.
