“Johnny Cash remains one of the most prolific singer–songwriters in American history,” said Tiffany Bregovi, Director of the Montco Cultural Center. “This performance honors his legacy and contribution to music.”
“A Man Named Cash” is the premier tribute to the music and lives of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. The show takes audiences on an exciting journey, spanning nearly 50 years of music, from Cash’s earliest days at Sun Recording in the 1950s, through his musical rebirth with American Recordings in the 2000s.
The show headlines vocalist/musician Eric Hofmanis who, after a nationwide audition process, was chosen by The Johnny Cash Estate and John Carter Cash (Cash's son) to be the lead vocalist for the multimedia, seven-month concert tour, “Johnny Cash: The Official Concert Experience” that spanned more than 100 cities and major concert venues across North America. With his astonishingly deep voice and even deeper embodiment of Cash’s character, Hofmanis performs classics as varied as the 1956 Billboard number one hit, “I Walk the Line,” and the 2004 Grammy-Award-winning, “Hurt.”
Hofmanis is joined by Megan Houde (as June Carter), whose natural presence alone adds an essential brightness to Cash's character. Their stage chemistry (much like the real Cash and Carter) is undeniable, at times unpredictable and genuinely charming and uplifting. Houde exudes the perfect embodiment of hope, joy, and love that is often missing in the world, as frequently evoked by Cash in his music.
