Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) has again earned national recognition for its commitment to veterans and military-connected students. “Military Times” named MCCC to its 2025 Best for Vets: Colleges list, ranking the College 4th in Pennsylvania, 12th in the Mid-Atlantic region and 144th nationwide out of 357 institutions.
“For 15 years, Best for Vets has helped transitioning service members find schools that not only welcome veterans but actively invest in their success,” said Jon Simkins, Executive Editor of “Military Times” and Sightline Media Group. “The record-breaking participation this year shows that higher education leaders are listening and working to create environments where veterans can thrive academically and personally.”
Christopher Weaver, MCCC Manager of Veteran Services, said the ranking reflects the College’s unwavering commitment.
“Montgomery County Community College is proud to serve those who have served our country,”
said Weaver. “We work diligently to provide high-quality education, personalized support,
and a welcoming, friendly environment for veterans, service members, and their families.
We will continue to strengthen and grow our programs to meet their needs.”
MCCC provides designated spaces at both the Blue Bell and Pottstown campuses, where students can access services, receive guidance and connect with peers. Currently MCCC serves 201 military-connected students, 122 of whom are veterans.
MCCC’s services include assistance with Veterans Administration educational benefits
and certification, VA work-study opportunities, priority course registration, free
academic coaching and online tutoring, networking events, and more. In addition to
Weaver, Charles Storti, Part-time Veterans Resource Specialist, and Kathleen Bullen,
Veterans Resource Center/Enrollment Services Specialist, also help to support military-connected
students.
“Military Times,” published by Sightline Media Group, evaluates institutions based on academic quality, student support services, affordability, and outcomes for veterans, including graduation and retention rates. According to Military Times’ website, student success metrics are the most important factor in determining the relative ranking of schools on the list, followed closely by the range of military-specific resources and the level of financial assistance offered.
In addition to the Best for Vets ranking, MCCC was named as a 2025-2026 Military Friendly® Top Ten School and Military Friendly® Top Ten Spouse School earlier this year in recognition of its continual commitment to comprehensively serving the needs of the military community.
MCCC has earned the Military Friendly® designation multiple times, starting in 2009, and also received the PNGAS Guard-Friendly School designation in 2019.
During a special Veterans Day flag raising ceremony, the Montgomery County Commissioners
declared November as Veterans Month and presented a proclamation to Weaver, recognizing
the services the College provides to veterans and their families.
