Students from the Sound Recording & Music Technology Program learned more about the business of creating and producing music during a conversation with jazz artist John Pizzarelli.

World-renowned jazz guitarist and singer, John Pizzarelli, made a special appearance via teleconference on Oct. 11 where he answered questions posed by students from the Sound Recording & Music Technology (SRT) Program and played a few pieces for them. The “Conversation with John Pizzarelli” was a collaboration between the Cultural Affairs Department and the Arts & Humanities Division. Facilitated by David Ivory, SRT director, the discussion focused on the business of making music.

“The goal of these collaborations is to introduce our students to the process of making their music and sharing their preferences in creating or recording it,” said Brent Woods, senior director of Cultural Affairs.

“It’s important for students to see people in the business actually doing what they’re learning,” added SRT Program Director, David Ivory.

As part of  Montgomery County Community College’s Lively Arts Series, Pizzarelli and Catherine Russell, Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist, performed “Billie and Blue Eyes,” a tribute to Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra on Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Science Center Theater on the Central Campus in Blue Bell.
