The XR Lab supports students, faculty, and staff in exploring virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, and other immersive technologies. Empowered through these technologies, users can interact with an expansive amount of hands-on immersive experiences designed for learning or training.
Located in Blue Bell in Science Center 349, you may visit the lab as a part of your coursework or stop by during open lab hours to explore a variety of XR experiences. Attend a workshop, demo day or schedule a consultation to explore how these technologies can be used for learning.

What is Extended Reality (XR)?
Extended Reality, or XR, is an umbrella term for immersive technologies that blend digital and physical experiences.
XR Includes:
- Virtual Reality, or VR: Fully immersive digital environments experienced through a headset
- Augmented Reality, or AR: Digital content layered over the physical world
- Mixed Reality, or MR: Digital and physical elements that interact in the same space
XR technologies can help students practice skills, visualize complex concepts, explore simulated environments, and engage with learning experiences that may be difficult, expensive, unsafe, or impossible to recreate in a traditional classroom.
