The Gateway to College program is a dual enrollment program for students who are at risk of dropping out—or who have already dropped out—of high school. Students will complete their high school diploma requirements while simultaneously earning meaningful college credit.
To be eligible, you must be:
- 16 to 21 years of age with partner high school referrals;
- Behind in high school credits for age or grade level;
- Reading at an eighth-grade level or higher;
- Currently residing within a partnering Montgomery County School District;
- Determined to learn and to earn a high school diploma and a college degree by age 21 and willing to commit two or more years to college.
Gateway Foundation Semester
All Gateway students begin in a supportive, self-contained classroom cohort known as Foundation Semester. Students will take 5 classes for 5 high school credits and 9 college credits. New cohorts begin in Fall and Spring.
After Foundation semester, students take a variety of college coursework to meet their individual high school diploma requirements. Students continue to receive support from the Gateway team.
