Taste the Talent: Student-Crafted Cuisines & Pastries
The Hospitality Institute at Montgomery County Community College features an educational bistro and bakery operated seasonally by students in the Baking & Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts programs. Students plan, prepare, and serve all food and beverages as part of this capstone experience, applying techniques, skills, and procedures learned throughout their academic coursework.
Bistro 1964
During the Fall 2026 semester, Bistro 1964 will be open for service to the community on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16 through Thursday, Dec. 3. Please see dates below for information about special services and events. Seating is by reservation only, using OpenTable, except for pizza orders. Pizza can be ordered for takeout at the counter during service hours while supplies last. Lunch is a Prix-Fixe menu, including guest choice of a first and second course, chef’s dessert selection, and a beverage for $26 + 6% sales tax. Pizzas are $10 + 6% sales tax at the counter while supplies last. Only credit/debit cards are accepted at the bistro.
Hospitality Institute recipes are developed using common cooking and baking ingredients that may or may not be specified in the titles, including various fruits and vegetables, nuts, meat, spices, wheat, flours, etc. If you have a dietary restriction, please contact [email protected] prior to arriving for your reservation. Enjoy lunch at the bistro from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Only credit/debit cards are accepted at the bistro.

- December 9 - Pizza Day! As our students prepare for the Empty Bowls community event on December 10, we will be closed for reservations in the Bistro. Please join us for a warm, delicious, wood-fired pizza to go from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm while supplies last.
- December 10 -“Empty Bowls” community event. Join Montco students, faculty, and staff on Thursday, December 10 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Hospitality Institute at Blue Bell Campus.Registration includes a bowl (which you will select on the day of the event), choice of soup (including vegetarian, gluten, and dairy free options), bread, and a beverage. Bowls and takeout soup will be available on the day of the event while supplies last.

Bakery 340
Bakery 340 will be open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until noon, while supplies last, beginning, Wednesday, Sept. 16 through Wednesday, Dec. 9. Choose from a variety of pastries including croissants, Danish, muffins, scones, donuts, cake slices, and cookies made from seasonal ingredients. Enjoy coffee brewed from local roaster, Backyard Beans. The Bakery 340 is cash only.
