The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for the loaning of laptops to students to support their academic needs.
Eligibility
The goal of this program is to ensure that students in need of a device to successfully complete their coursework have access to one. As the number of available devices is limited, we kindly ask that you take this into consideration when submitting your request.
- All currently enrolled credit students are eligible to borrow a laptop*.
- Priority will be given to students who do not have access to a personal computer.
- Laptops will be loaned on a first-come, first-served basis, and the College reserves the right to suspend this program once all available laptops have been loaned out.
*Please note that non-credit and Dual Enrollment students are not eligible for this
program.
Loan Period
- Laptops can be borrowed for a duration not to exceed the current Semester.
- Extensions may be granted based on availability and confirmed registration in an immediately upcoming academic session.

- Submit the completed form to the IT Service Desk.
- Upon confirmation of your enrollment in the current or immediately upcoming academic
session, a laptop loaner device will be provided to you.
Usage Guidelines
- Laptops are to be used for academic purposes only.
- Students must adhere to the college's Acceptable Use Policy.
- Any software installed by the student must be legally licensed.
Care and Maintenance
- Students are fully responsible for the care and maintenance of the laptop and charger during the loan period.
- Any damage or technical issues (to either the laptop or the charger) should be reported
immediately to the IT Service Desk and may result in a damage fee not to exceed the
full value of the laptop ($400).
Return Policy:
- Laptops must be returned or have their loan renewed by the due date to the IT Service Desk in Blue Bell (ATC 3rd Floor), or the Library Circulation Desk in Pottstown. Don’t forget the charger!
- If a laptop is not returned by the due date, it will be considered lost/stolen and a replacement fee of $400 will be assessed to your account.
- In order to have the $400 fee removed, you MUST return the laptop within 120 days of the charge appearing on your account.
- Laptops will not be accepted after the 120 days, and you will be responsible for the full replacement cost of $400.
- Laptops must be returned in the same physical condition as when they were provided to you. Upon return, all personal information will be permanently removed from the machine. Please back up your data accordingly.*
*We recommend using either a personal flash drive or external hard drive (Student is responsible for obtaining this on their own – The college does not provide these types of devices). Alternatively, cloud-based storage via Microsoft OneDrive is available to students at m365.cloud.microsoft/onedrive.
Please note that students will have access to OneDrive files for a period of one year
from the completion of their last course, as stated in the student handbook.
Liability:
- Students are liable for any loss or damage to the laptop during the loan period.
- In case of loss or damage, the student will be charged the replacement cost of the laptop ($400).
- If a laptop is returned damaged, a new unit will not be provided until the repair/replacement cost has been paid.
- If the laptop is returned without the charger, or the charger must be replaced for any reason, a fee of $50 may be assessed.
