Montgomery County Community College will host a series of Fall Open Houses for prospective students and their families. Each event is free and open to the community.
With leaves on the ground and chilly temperatures in the air, the fall season has arrived, meaning it’s also the perfect time to attend a fall open house at Montgomery County Community College.
MCCC has announced the fall open house schedule, with its Pottstown Campus kicking off the first event Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon in North Hall, 16 E. High St., Pottstown. The College will then host an online open house Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m., followed by its Blue Bell Campus open house, Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Health Sciences Center, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell. “We look forward to connecting with students either in-person or online. It aligns with the mission of the College to provide experiences for all students, regardless of modality,” said Michael Harcum, Director of Admissions and Recruitment. “Prospective students and their families have the option to attend an open house event in person, online or attend all three events. Montco and this community has the ability to inspire, lead and transform. We are a resource for you.”
At both on-campus events, participants will attend an information fair where representatives from student support services, Athletics, and academic departments will be on hand to answer questions, said Katherine Browna, Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment.
“It’s an opportunity for guests to have discussions with faculty, staff and Admissions representatives to connect and learn about programs and services available at the College,” she said. “In addition, there will be workshops throughout the event to attend for in-depth information about the different topics including the admissions process, financial aid and scholarships and paying for college.”
The in-person events will also include campus tours, which will include access to academic facilities MCCC has more than 100 associate degree and certificate programs, more than 30 transfer partners, honors programs and the ability to earn advanced degrees onsite through the University Center.
“Especially at Blue Bell Campus, the tours will go into academic buildings and students will see facilities like the science and engineering labs in the Science Center, The Mix Room at Montco, and Montco Radio in the Advanced Technology Center, the live learning labs in the Health Sciences Center, our Mustangs eSports facility, located in the newly renovated College Hall and the gallery in the Fine Arts Center,” said Browna. “The tours will give guests the opportunity to visit the same facilities where they may be taking classes at Montco.”
At Pottstown Campus, the tours will visit the workforce development area, which provides flexible, high-quality training programs to individuals, businesses and organizations in the Montgomery County area; the Sound Recording and Music Technology studio, and the Student Life and support spaces in South Hall to give students a peek at what those spaces will look like, as well as the academic spaces. The tours will also stop at the new wellness pavilion.
The hour-long online open house will feature pre-recorded informational videos students can view to learn about support services like 24/7 online tutoring and 24/7 TimelyCare physical and mental health care services, and other programs available on campus like veterans resources, Career Services and academic support. These videos will also be available to access after the live portion of the event for students to review on their own time. During the event there will be live breakout rooms for guests to join and speak to live representatives from Academic and Student Support Services, Admissions, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid. There will also be an opportunity to meet faculty, staff, administrators and current student to talk about the opportunities available and the student experience on campus.
“The online open house is a great opportunity not just for prospective students thinking about taking courses online in the future,” said Browna. “It’s also accessible to those unable to make it to the in-person events and is a good compliment for those who attended in-person and want access to the pre-recorded sessions if they missed any information during any of the in-person
